#23: in transit

This morning's photos are brought to you by: the color "distressed bus-seat red"...

the back of the bus (#76) or "a bigger chair for two to curl up in"

view from Mackenzie King Bridge
Rideau Canal on left, Château Laurier in distance

...the letters S (for snowstorm), R, and C (for Rideau Canal)...and by the number 30 for the centimetres of snowfall forecast for Ottawa yesterday & today.

  1. Well, the winter photo is pretty, but maybe not so welcomed by you!

And I love when they make bus seats like that - can't REALLY fit 3 people.

And that is the Dianna! I thought you might know her! She is one of my closest friends. We did tons of theatre stuff together.

  2. p.s. sorry to hear about food poisoning at Kelsey's! And that spinach dip is so good!

  3. Small world, isn't it? That's Wpg connections.

Y'know, looking at the bus photo again reminds me of the Metro article I read on the way home, about pole dancing being the latest craze.

  4. Was anyone else on the bus when you took the picture? I'm always shy to take pictures in front of strangers, especially when it's of something like an empty bus seat!

Funny you both know Dianna - though she gets around! Another one of friends (who now lives in Vancouver) also knows her, and even I know her from when she interpreted in a design course I took at RRC. We should invent a new reality TV show: "How do YOU know Dianna?"

  5. Great question, L. There were a few people in the front; nobody was in the back of the bus, so I grabbed the chance. I thought I switched the flash off, but really I switched it on--so much for remaining inconspicuous. If anyone noticed, maybe they'll have thought I bought a new camera or that I'm working on a project or that the weather finally drove me to distraction.

  6. Just looking at the bus seat picture...I can't help but wonder what kind of total moron bus designer decided that a verticle support post to the ceiling needed to be placed at that particular position at the front of that seat. I mean, come on, is the floor support structure engineered so poorly that the seat cannot be completely anchored to the floor instead of structural assistance from the bus ceiling?

I'll bet some corporate a** clown who pulls in $100,000.00 a year net, who has never set foot into a bus is behind that nonsense.
