#25: troublemakers

troublemaker #1

My power adapter decided for whatever reason that it wanted to take a permanent vacation.

troublemaker #2

Someone's been playing king of the castle on our hill and caused a mini-avalanche. (Sigh!) More snow to clean up. Guess it won't make that much difference, since the pretty flakes now falling are part and parcel of the additional 30-40 cm of snow we're expecting overnight. Good thing we've got 4-wheel drive. Hope we can get to that Mac store tomorrow: I really need power!

  1. Hiya Julie,

I got the "Ottawa" package in the mail today! Thanks so very much! That is one awesome uOttawa ballcap and tshirt, as well as the keychain. I'm saving the chocolate bar until I'm hungry for it. :) I picked up the package at the Steinbach Post Office just before my rotating evening shift, and I immediately opened it...I made a point to put the cap on at work (well, just before work, and just after work) and bragged about it to a couple of individuals. :)

I bet they don't have a cool big sister who would do that for them. :)

  2. Too bad about Ottawa getting more snow right now, I know that's the last thing you all need out there.

For what it's worth, the temperature out here in South Eastern Manitoba is **bitterly** cold right now...feels like the end of DEC or the middle of JAN.

I am so sick of constantly plugging in the vehicle and sprinting at top speed from the vehicle to whatever warm indoor facility I am going to.

Global warming sounds like a bit of a scam to me at this point.

  3. Julie! Chapters is a dangerous consumer paradise to go into - especially the bargain sections! I LOVE bookstores, used to work in the kid's section (was it you who said you always wanted to work in Chapters on one of Ellen's blogs?). I am actually still drawn to the children's section, and I love reading teen novels - good ones that is, not all the girls turned bad crap that is out there. I read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn just recently, never read it as a child.

Sorry to see more snow coming down over there, unless you enjoy the snow, then I am happy for you.

Perry, I am headed to Winnipeg in less than week. Please, please report that a miraculous Chinook has blown through and it is all lovely and warm by next week!

  4. siobhan, by next week, I'm sure the temperature in Manitoba will have risen to at least -20 celsius with a windchill factor of -34 celsius. So it will be nice and warm. At least in comparison to the Antarctic.

Chapters....check out McNally Robinson at Grant Park Shopping Centre.

  5. Yes, I do love McNally's as well, but it's like trying to break into the mafia to get a job there, which says something about how great it is to gain employment in their establishment. Fabulous kid's section there, too!

  6. Hi again Julie,
Did you obtain a replacement power supply? Was it under warranty?

And also...I just finished booking airline tickets (direct flight) to Ottawa. Ask Mom for more details. :)
